The original RS was the 1993 RS2, its turbocharged five-cylinder engine producing 311bhp and driven through a quattro driveline. The RS4 came along in 2000, available in Avant form only, with 375bhp from a twin-turbo 2.7-litre V6.

Ok, it wieghs the same as tesco's and has a dull 4wd system but 570bhp is insane..!!

Had a drive of a previous model RS6 today and have come to a serious question. Why does Audi need to place 570 bhp in a family estate car! I love fast Audis especially the RS4/R8 but the old RS6 had more than enough grunt, and (in my opinion) frankly looks better. Oh and I prefer V8s!

Surely the Merc and the BMW would be more exciting and enjoyable to drive, as probably would my Legacy.

But I can see the appeal of going really fast in an estate car, just not a car that weighs in over 2 tonnes.
