Gloves off!

Ed Keohane

I've just been stuck in a traffic jam for 25 minutes on the way to work in the Freelander. I left my ipod lead in Istanbul and didn't fancy what I could find on the radio, so I was getting pretty bored... And then I noticed a pair of skiing gloves in the door compartment.

Land Rover has always boasted that you can fully operate the most road-biased of its vehicles in work gear, so I decided to put it to the test. Gloved up, I tried every button I could see... and it's the full 10/10.

The only ones that looked even vaguely 'touch and go', if you'll excuse the pun, were the heated screen switches nestled in the air-con dials. But they were a doddle.

Now where can I get hold of an astronaut suit?

I took delivery of a Freelander2 HSE last Sept. Previously owned a V70 and A6 Estate. Love everything about the landie except the downturning wingmirrors in reverse gear. Does anybody else feel the same? Can this annoying extra be removed?

Thanks

Ed, your report in this weeks AutoCar says you had the FL2 serviced & the Stereo firmware upgraded. Has this enabled the Stereo to work as DAB - like the button shows? Some long standing arguements with LR about it, as whilst it was originally advertised with DAB it has never worked in our XS.

Would be handy to know as ours is going in on Thursday for the first Service. (hope it isn't £400 !!! )
