From Rory Lumsdon in Frankfurt

The chunky-looking Tribu concept is ex-Lamborghini designer Luc Donckerwolke's first full design for Seat, and it's every bit as good looking in the metal as it is in the photos.

The really good news for Seat is that not only is the Tribu (pronounced Tree-bo, and Spanish for Tribe) the Spanish firm's new look, but it's also going to be built, and that within two years.

Sure, the production version won't have all of the concept's neat touches - especially inside - but it will largely follow the same styling.

It will also most likely be a five-door, though a Seat spokesman said it was too early to rule out a three-door altogether.

Perhaps the most striking thing about the Tribu is its presence. It's not long, but looks like it could hold it's own in any car park. When it goes on sale, expect it to compete directly with the likes of the Toyota RAV4 and Honda CR-V.
