The three-door version of Seat’s new supermini has just been revealed here at the London motor show. Called the Ibiza SportCoupe, it’s claimed to offer buyers a sportier look.
The Ibiza is already one of the smartest-looking superminis and the changes enhance the visual appeal of this sleek Vauxhall Corsa rival. Large front air vents and a crisp crease from the light cluster that continues down the flanks help to create a dramatic new look for the Spanish hatch.
The SportCoupe will come with a wide range of engines rolled out in stages. The frugal, 47.9mpg, 68bhp three-cylinder 1.2 litre petrol engine will start the range at £8995, and the line-up is bolstered by a £10,895 102bhp 1.6 and a £9995 83bhp 1.4. But we’re not expecting too much performance; the 150bhp FR and 180bhp Cupra models will both use a supercharged and turbocharged 1.4-litre engine, and are due early next year.
On the greener side of the range, the new Ibiza SportCoupe Ecomotive is claimed to produce 99g/km of CO2 (1g/km shy of the Fiesta Econetic and will go on sale, along with the rest of the regular range, in October.
