This is the new, more powerful Maserati Quattroporte.

The biggest changes are under the bonnet, where the 4.7-litre V8 from the Alfa 8C and GranTurismo S has been installed. Named the Quattroporte S, the new range-topping model gets 424bhp, nine horses less than its coupe sibling. It will sit in the range alongside the standard 394bhp, 4.2-litre Quattroporte.

Both models will utilise the ZF six-speed automatic transmission that was first introduced into the Quattroporte in December 2006.

Subtle styling changes include a new vertical slat grille, which is intended to be reminiscent of the GranTurismo, and new LED lights at the front and rear. Look really closely and you’ll notice that the wing mirrors are a new, more streamlined shape and the sills are more sculpted.

The interior has received a similarly subdued facelift. Two new shades of brown leather and a new centre console, complete with updated multimedia system, help to bring the Maser’s interior up to date.

Prices won’t be confirmed until nearer the new Quattroporte’s on-sale date in October this year.
