The Ford S-Max and Galaxy MPVs are now available with the company’s 173bhp 2.2-litre Duratorq TDCi engine. Recently unveiled in the Mondeo saloon, the 2.2-litre unit is the most powerful diesel in Ford Europe’s passenger car range. The unit produces 295lb ft of torque at 1750rpm.
Ford’s existing 2.0-litre diesel engine (with automatic gearbox) gets a 10bhp power boost from 128bhp to 138bhp, and a new 2.0-litre flexfuel unit, capable of running on a mixture of bioethanol and petrol, is now available both ranges.
Bluetooth connectivity is now standard across both ranges. The Ford Galaxy 2.2-litre TDCi will cost £25,775, while the S-Max with the same engine costs £23,275.
